Say hello to Bryon Guthrie—husband, dad, firefighter, facilities guy, and now... aspiring livestock showman (or at least trying his best not to get dragged around the 4H ring). Bryon is stepping up for the Showing with the Stars fundraiser to help raise money for the Harlan County Fair—and possibly provide a few laughs in the process.!
Bryon, along with his wife Krista and daughter Adi, made Alma their home three years ago to be closer to family and raise Adi in the close-knit, small-town atmosphere they value deeply. His son Dalton lives in Colorado, and their beloved son Logan, who passed away eight years ago, continues to inspire Bryon's service and big-hearted dedication.
Bryon knows a thing or two about service—he spent 10 years as a volunteer firefighter and 5 years as a paid firefighter at Rocky Flats Fire Department before it closed. He also put in 18 years with Adams 12 Schools, proving he can handle just about anything.
When he arrived in Alma, Bryon jumped right in—joining the Alma Rural Fire District, earning his EMT certification, and rising to the role of Fire Chief. He now serves the entire area as Director of Facilities for Harlan County, after first being hired as Transportation Manager.
But now, he’s got a new challenge: showing an animal in the 4H arena. Will he thrive under pressure like he does in the fire truck? Or will he get outwitted by a goat? Either way, it’s all in good fun and for a great cause.
